Based in Staffordshire, Ben currently plays as one of the UK's only 5 stringed 'cellists as a solo artist and with several ensembles including Helian & the Joe Danks trio. He has played classically with various orchestras including the LSO, and BBC Philharmonic. Whilst he regularly records for large ensembles Ben enjoys playing in smaller ensembles and taking a multifaceted approach to playing, filling many roles and exploring the sound of the 'cello in different contexts. He has a strong understanding of amplified playing and the many electronic effects of the 'cello, including looping, even debuting the contemporary piece 'my last duchess'. Ben regularly plays live over festivals, concert series and tours and is available for collaboration on multi-arts projects as a scroll-singer or 'cellist.
